Purpose of the Visa

This route allows individuals who have lived lawfully and continuously in the UK for at least 10 years to settle permanently. It recognises long‑term residents who have contributed to UK life across different visa types, such as student, work, or family visas.

Eligibility Requirements

10 years of continuous lawful residence in the UK under qualifying visa categories.
No single absence of more than 180 days and total absences not exceeding 540 days across the 10‑year period.
Must meet the English language requirement at B1 CEFR or higher.
Must pass the Life in the UK Test.
Must have maintained lawful status throughout the 10 years (no overstaying beyond permitted grace periods).
