This route allows individuals who have lived lawfully and continuously in the UK for at least 10 years to settle permanently. It recognises long‑term residents who have contributed to UK life across different visa types, such as student, work, or family visas.
Applicants must ensure there are no significant breaks in residence. Absences exceeding 180 days at once or 540 days in total normally break continuity. Short periods of overstaying may be disregarded only under limited Home Office discretion.
If approved, Indefinite Leave to Remain grants permanent residence in the UK, allowing freedom to work, study, and live without restriction. It is an important step toward British citizenship for those who meet the subsequent eligibility requirements.
Missing travel or residence records leading to unverified absences.
Unlawful stay due to visa expiry or late application submission.
Incorrect interpretation of continuous residence requirements.
Failing to meet the Life in the UK or English language test standards.
We provide detailed reviews of visa history, residence continuity, and evidence preparation. Our guidance ensures your ILR application is strong, compliant, and ready for Home Office decision.
